I am from the UK. The bizarre and extraordinary have a fascination for me and I love to experiment and embrace change. I am retired from the 'working world' however this leaves much time now for my creative endeavours. I have joined two Artist's collectives in Southend-on-Sea and try to get involved with the new burgeoning artists aswell as the already established set as I like to keep in touch with both traditional and new trends. My artisic pathway has been disjointed at best due to life in general but now i have much opportunity in this area to progress. I tend to be inspired by internal processes, the twists and turns of my emotional and mental challenges. It is often if not usual that an ordinary subject becomes a tool for something deeper to be explored. what is occurring in my psyche at that moment in time will out on to the paper or canvas. This painting is a good example of that fact for after beginning a supposed self-portrait, taken from an old photograph, i recognised a different meaning in it at its completion. it did not resemble me, it does however look like my sister who had been on my mind as I remembered our distubed childhood.
